Zanzibar:
Heart of
Serenity
The breathtaking beaches of Zanzibar, nestled along the Indian Ocean, are celebrated worldwide for their idyllic beauty. These pristine stretches of silky, soft sand meet warm, crystal-clear, shallow waters, which seamlessly extend into vibrant coral reefs—offering some of the finest snorkelling and diving experiences on the planet.
At the heart of Zanzibar lies Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site brimming with history and charm. Its lively, kaleidoscopic marketplace, maze-like streets, and intricately designed doors and buildings tell tales of its rich and storied past. Once a crucial trading hub for goods from around the globe—including, tragically, the slave trade—Zanzibar is best known today for its reputation as the Spice Island. With its aromatic treasures of cinnamon, cardamom, robust Arab coffee, and the prized cloves, nicknamed the "gold of Zanzibar," the island has secured its place as a gem of flavor and culture.

Zanzibar Travel Packing-list
Increasingly, visitors combine mainland safaris or Kilimanjaro climbs with a Zanzibar extension, making it critical for Grafton Safari to provide our clients with a practical packing guide.
In Zanzibar, year-round daytime temperatures typically range from 28°C (82°F) to 33°C (91°F), with nightly lows hovering between 22°C (72°F) and 25°C (77°F). The June to September dry season remains the most popular and pleasant for beach and outdoor activities.
Travelers must balance beach-friendly outfits with clothing suitable for cultural immersion. Zanzibar is predominantly Muslim (over 99% of the population), and while beach attire is liberal within resort confines, modest dress is required in Stone Town, villages, and other public areas. For both men and women, clothing covering shoulders and knees is commonly expected, especially when visiting historical sites, markets, places of worship, or local homes. Revealing attire may attract negative attention and is considered disrespectful by residents.
